Biography & Background
Where Every New Fencer Starts
Tristan is a level 1 coach. He has worked in fencing summer camps in Germany and in Minnesota, USA, and has been part of the Club Gadbois team since 2023.
Under the mentorship of Mike Pederson, Tristan works with young beginners to help them develop basic fencing techniques. If your child has never held a foil, Tristan is almost certainly the first coach they will meet.

Fundamentals First, And Made Enjoyable
Tristan specialises in the first season. That means footwork before blade work, blade work before scoring, and enough structure that a nine-year-old can see themselves improving week to week.
It is deliberately the least glamorous job in the club and the one that determines whether a beginner stays. Working under Mike Pederson means the fundamentals he teaches are the same ones the competitive group is still refining years later.
